Point your domain at your site
Your domain’s DNS tells browsers where to find your site. You’ll add two records at the company you bought the domain from. We can’t do this part for you, but we check it for you: your setup checklist turns green when it’s right.
The records to add
| Type | Name / Host | Value / Points to | TTL |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | @ |
[your site's IP address] |
Auto, or 3600 |
| CNAME | www |
yourclub.com |
Auto, or 3600 |
Your setup checklist shows the exact values for your club.
Steps
- Sign in to the company you bought your domain from, and find DNS settings. It’s sometimes called “DNS records”, “Zone editor” or “Manage DNS”.
- If there’s already an A record for
@, edit it. Otherwise add a new one. Only one A record for@should be left. - Add the CNAME for
www, sowww.yourclub.comworks too. If there’s already awwwrecord, edit that one instead. - Save, then go back to your setup checklist and press Check now. Most changes show within an hour; some take up to a day.
Using Cloudflare?
Set both records to DNS only (the grey cloud) until your site is live, so we can get its security certificate. You can turn the proxy back on afterwards.
Your security certificate
Once your domain points at your site, we get a certificate for it automatically, so it opens with https://. You don’t need to buy one, and it renews itself.
